I loved this book; The Joy of Mom: Celebrating a Mother’s Love. I read it all in one night and read a couple of pages every morning with my coffee. I am a mother to two little boys, Brixton who is 3 and Everton who is almost 21 months. Being a mother changed me, obviously. I feel like I found my calling a couple of months after giving birth to B. Those first couple months as a mom were difficult. I wasn’t used to it and I had advice being thrown at me from every direction. I finally realized one sleepless morning, that I would need to follow my own heart and intuitions with motherhood if I was going to enjoy it as much as I wanted. So I did, and I do. Not all days are great, some are even scary, but I know what’s important and I just keep reminding myself of that. The boys being happy, feeling loved, and having a childhood full of memories is what I am striving for.

This book is full of quotes about motherhood. It made me cry, laugh, smile, and wishful. It has quotes from famous people, the author, and from unknown sources. Every single one touched my heart. Some I knew, but a lot I didn’t and it was truly inspirational to read them all. The book is also filled with beautiful photographs of the authors family.

My favorite quote from the book:

“Before you were born I carried you under my heart. From the moment you arrived in this world until the moment I leave it, I will always carry you in my heart.” – Mandy Harrison

The author is Vicki Reece, a mother of three children and three fur babies. She is the founder of joyofmom.com. It is a website designed to connect women all over the world with inspirational, genuine stories, and advice. She is a former executive who left it all behind to make positive multimedia products for children and families. She has also produced children’s music, videos, and games that all had a positive message. Today Vicki’s words reach millions of mothers and women around the world and fill them with inspiration.

I think that this book should be on every mothers book shelf. With Mother’s Day around the corner, it will make a perfect gift. It will work for new mothers, to great, great grandmothers. I can promise you, you will find a quote to uplift your day or to keep you going on this journey. The book is equipped with a quote to remind you of your important role as a mother.  Maybe take some time in the morning with your coffee or tea and read a couple of pages and remind yourself what being a mom is all about. I hope you enjoy it as much as me!
