MID-SUMMER FAMILY ROAD TRIP SURVIVAL PLAN & Adventure {Interview}

vacation

Preparing, Planning, Packing – oh my!  Parents need to begin getting ready for a “road trip,” weeks before it begins to avoid feeling frazzled and frustrated while traveling, especially if it includes camping.

What you need to know before you go:

  • Pack layers: air conditioning in cars, RV’s and pit stops can be chilly.  Prepare for varying temperatures by including layers like sweaters and sweatshirts.
  • Organize outfits: pre-plan what your kids will wear and roll them together to avoid over-packing.
  • The just in case items: pack a duplicate set of keys for vehicle, and keep in separate bag to carry whenever you take a break, to avoid getting locked out.
  • Your digital devices are important so make sure to include a travel charger for your phone and other electronics.
  • Hygiene & Toiletries: Cut out bathroom pit stops by packing a travel port-a-potty. Avoid a shampoo explosion by packing toiletries for the entire family in an individual bag. Keep the list short and pack only essentials like toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, comb, brush, tissues and toilet paper.

Now imagine taking part in a road trip from Boston to Seattle with only one roll of toilet paper with 1000 sheets for your family to use while you’re on the RV.  This is the adventure that five families are going on as they travel along I-90, America’s longest highway. The families will take turns riding through part of the journey – each documenting their trip highlights and demonstrating their ability to see how far one roll of toilet paper will take them, how many sights they can see and the number of memories they can make.

Join me in a recent interview with Christine Kiriazes, Scott Brand Manager who shared some really great travel tips, and details about that unique road trip and adventure this summer, plus more travels tips you sure don’t want to miss.
