In a quest to find nutritional options for kids at fast-food chains, Healthnews analyzed menus from 10 popular outlets to highlight the healthiest and least healthy choices. With input from nutrition scientist Lauryna Nelkine, this report aims to simplify fast-food decisions for parents, pointing towards healthier meal selections.

Research Method

The Healthnews team undertook extensive research on the websites of fast food chains to identify the calorie content of kids’ meals. They selected the option with the lowest calorie count from each brand for analysis. In collaboration with a nutrition scientist, the team has examined the nutritional composition and ingredients of each selected meal, using information obtained from the brands’ official online resources.

Summary

Despite lower calorie offerings from these chains, many items are sugary and fiber-poor, underscoring the need to prioritize nutritional value over mere calorie counts.
