Imperative Campaign Alerting Drivers Of Michigan’s Most Dangerous Intersections

Michigan Auto Law Launches Imperative Public Safety Campaign to Create Awareness of Michigan’s Most Dangerous Intersections.

Campaign includes strategically placed innovative outdoor billboards alerting drivers to be cautious as they enter some of the state’s most dangerous intersections.

Michigan Auto Law, the leading and largest law firm in Michigan that specializes exclusively in handling auto accident cases and has done so for more than 50 years, is a strong advocate for making Michigan roads a safer place by providing vital safety guidance to drivers throughout the state. In furtherance of its safe-driving advocacy, Michigan Auto Law has launched a powerful public safety billboard campaign that will provide both awareness and cautionary messages to drivers as they approach some of Michigan’s most dangerous intersections.

The campaign is launching this week and will run through Labor Day Weekend, strategically timed during the time frame that is nationally known as the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” for drivers.  This powerful initiative supports the mission of Michigan Auto Law to continue to provide unique ways to educate drivers on safety with messaging that provides preventative awareness in order to reduce accidents during these dangerous times for drivers.

This public safety campaign by Michigan Auto Law

will include the placement of 7 strategically placed outdoor billboards in Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan. The billboards will alert drivers that they are about to enter one of the most dangerous intersections in the state. These billboards will serve as stark reminders of the potential consequences of distracted driving, urging motorists to stay focused, drive safely and proceed with caution.

Each year, Michigan Auto Law compiles its list of the state’s most dangerous intersections based on intersection crash data that the Michigan State Police collects from motor vehicle accident reports that were filed by local law enforcement and police departments throughout Michigan during the previous year. Over the last several years, many of the same intersections have appeared repeatedly among the top ten most dangerous intersections in Michigan.

The intersections, which are defined as any road with a traffic signal, four-way stop, or roundabout, are among the most dangerous for crashes, injuries, and even fatalities in the state of Michigan. All crashes included in the reporting, occurred within 200 feet of an intersection including near freeways (and their subsequent on-ramps, off-ramps, and service streets), divided highways, and rural roads. Reports also show that areas with higher traffic volumes are at greater risk for crash rates.

Michigan Auto Law has placed these cautionary billboards

at the following intersections, which are among the top ten most dangerous intersections in Michigan:

Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

reveal that the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is particularly perilous for drivers, which is referenced as the “100 deadliest days of summer”. The number of fatal car crashes involving drivers, especially teenage drivers, spikes dramatically. This increase is attributed to several factors: higher traffic volumes, the surge in teen drivers on the road, summer vacations, construction, motorcycle usage, more frequent late-night driving, and an increase in recreational driving.

Additionally, the rise in social activities often leads to higher risks of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Distracted driving also plays a significant role, with more drivers engaging in risky behaviors such as texting, using social media, and other distractions while behind the wheel. The combination of these factors creates a perilous environment on the roads, making this period particularly hazardous.

“By placing these billboards as motorists’ approach critical intersections, we hope to alert drivers and encourage them to pay a little more attention.  Hopefully, they will make safer choices behind the wheel, or even choose a different route,” stated Steven M. Gursten, President of Michigan Auto Law.  “With summer upon us, we see a significant increase in road traffic, construction, and drinking and driving.   Our goal at Michigan Auto Law is safety.   We want to keep people and their families safe on the road”.
