Miller Auditorium will host a “Motown Behind the Scenes” pre-show event on May 15 from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Grand Tier Lobby on the second floor of the venue, prior to the final evening performance of Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations. Kalamazoo native and Motown singer, Cal Street, and her son, Ricky Street, will lead the conversation.
Cal Street is one of the original members of the legendary Motown group The Velvelettes, which was formed on Western Michigan University’s campus. She was married to the late Richard Street of The Temptations. Joining her is her son, Ricky Street, who has honored his father’s legacy by performing Richard’s vocal parts with The Temptations on tour.
Together, they will share personal stories and reflections about life on the road, the golden era of Motown, and the inner workings of some of the genre’s most iconic groups. Guests will also have the opportunity to view a curated display of Cal Street’s Motown memorabilia and participate in a brief Q&A session. This is an opportunity to gain insight into the rich legacy of Motown music from those who lived it.
The event is free for patrons. Tickets are still available for the three-day engagement of Ain’t Too Proud, The Life and Times of The Temptations at Miller Auditorium. Performances are on Tuesday, May 13 through Thursday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. with an ASL interpreted performance on Wednesday, May 14.
