DETROIT, Mich – July 14, 2025 – Eastern Market’s vibrant Sunday and Tuesday Markets return for the summer season, offering expanded opportunities to shop locally and enjoy fresh, Michigan-grown produce through September. These markets help sustain local agriculture and small food businesses while complementing the iconic Saturday Market experience. Combined, the summer markets celebrate the best of Detroit’s maker and food communities.
The Sunday Market is not your traditional farmers’ market.
It is a destination for Detroit-made goods, featuring a wide range up to 225 local artisans, crafters, designers, and vintage vendors with events inside Shed 5. It’s the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind Detroit and Michigan-made gifts, handmade goods, and creative wares. This year introduces the new “Westside vs. Eastside” DJ spinoff series, starting July 27, and Eastern Market is now seeking new community event collaborations for 2026 to broaden its reach.
The Tuesday Market brings many of the popular Saturday vendors to Shed 3, offering fresh produce, baked goods, local products, and a strong focus on health and wellness. Enjoy free yoga (11 a.m. – 12 p.m.) and Zumba (1 p.m. – 2 p.m.) classes in Shed 3, shop from local farmers and food producers, and explore everything the district has to offer. Shoppers can also catch live cooking demonstrations, learn practical nutrition tips, and engage with wellness-focused community partners.
Thanks to support from partners like Farm Bureau Insurance,
Eastern Market also welcomes youth groups to the Tuesday Market each week, offering free transportation, participation in healthy activities, and $20 market vouchers to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables.
To support healthy food access, the Tuesday Market participates in the Double Up Food Bucks program, which matches Bridge Card (SNAP/EBT) purchases dollar for dollar when spent on Michigan-grown fruits and vegetables. This program makes fresh, nutritious food more affordable while directly supporting local farmers.
Food trucks will be on site during both markets, and nearby district businesses will be open, perfect for grabbing lunch, shopping, or exploring local neighborhood eats. From colorful produce stands to handmade jewelry and freshly prepared meals, every visit to the market feels uniquely Detroit.
“Our Sunday and Tuesday markets are great indicators of how Eastern Market has grown over the years,” said Lonni Thomas, Director of Markets at Eastern Market Partnership. “While the market is well known for being a food hub, it has also evolved into a platform for small businesses of all types to thrive. From the local artists and designers on the Sunday Markets to the energetic Zumba teacher on Tuesdays, our spring and summer markets are definitely the place to support local entrepreneurs. Eastern Market continues to nourish a happier, healthier, and wealthier Detroit.”
