Metro Detroit’s Largest Laser IMAX Auditorium with Luxury Recliners to Launch with “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” on July 25.
Bloomfield Hills, MI, July 24, 2025 — MJR Theatres is excited to announce the grand opening of their new state-of-the-art IMAX auditorium at MJR Troy Cinema on Friday, July 25, 2025, featuring evening showings of Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” This marks the company’s second IMAX screen in the area, following the successful debut of MJR Southgate’s IMAX in November 2023.
The completely redesigned auditorium,
which will seat approximately 300 guests, features luxury reclining chairs throughout and 4K Laser projection technology. Select rows will offer MJR’s exclusive VIP Seats, featuring heated reclining chairs, side tables, storage compartments, coat hooks, and a privacy enclosure designed to provide additional personal space and comfort.
The new screen will boast the largest Laser IMAX screen in Metro-Detroit and is one of only two to feature luxury recliners. The auditorium employs IMAX’s 4K laser projection system that delivers brighter images with increased resolution, deeper contrast, and the widest range of colors, complemented by an immersive precision audio system.
In celebration of this milestone opening,
MJR Theatres will be hosting a special giveaway for a year of free movies. Anyone who sees a film at the new IMAX at MJR Troy during opening week, July 25-31, can enter to win a year of free movies at MJR Theatres. Details on how to enter will be shown before each showtime in the IMAX auditorium.
