- Juneau, Alaska, tops the rankings with 10.98 inches of expected summer rainfall, making it America’s wettest summer city.
- Nashville, Tennessee, comes second with 8.79 inches of predicted rainfall, while southern states account for nine of the top 10 rainiest cities.
- Western states show dramatically lower rainfall predictions, with San Jose, California, expecting just 0.27 inches – 40 times less than Juneau.
A new study from flood restoration experts at Water Damage Specialist has identified the U.S. cities predicted to have the wettest summer this year, with Alaska’s capital expected to experience significantly more rainfall than the rest of the country.
The study found that coastal cities don’t necessarily receive more rainfall than inland areas. While coastal Juneau tops the list, many beach communities like Miami, Florida (6.10 inches) and Virginia Beach, Virginia (5.28 inches) rank lower than landlocked cities.
The data also shows that Maryland has the most cities in the top rankings with three metropolitan areas expecting over 7.9 inches of summer rainfall. Florida and Virginia

Muskegon tops the list as Michigan’s rainiest summer city, averaging 6.15 inches of rainfall alongside mild seasonal temperatures of 70.7°F. Just behind it, Grand Rapids claims the second spot with 6.11 inches of precipitation and slightly warmer summer weather at 72.2°F, showing that West Michigan communities face the heaviest summer downpours in the state.
Kalamazoo ranks third with 5.56 inches of rainfall and average summer temperatures of 73.1°F, while Warren (5.37 inches) and Sterling Heights (5.36 inches) take fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Together, these cities highlight regional differences in Michigan’s summer weather, with lakeshore and metro areas alike seeing higher rainfall totals than the rest of the state.
