The heartfelt board book created for families built with love, intention, and a little help from science continues its mission to bring comfort and connection to families everywhere!

Mama Cow, a sweet and simple board book about a cow who becomes a mama in her own special way, has officially surpassed its initial $5,000 Kickstarter goal. Created by Lisa Proeber, a single mom by choice to two boys, the story offers a gentle, heartwarming way to talk about alternative family building with young children. With vibrant illustrations and inclusive language, Mama Cow Has a Baby helps families start early conversations about love, parenthood, and the many ways families are made. It is one of the first board books specifically for single moms by choice and other non-traditional family structures.

The Kickstarter campaign runs through October 2 and now aims to raise $40,000 to expand distribution, launch additional books, and develop a line of Mama Cow products, including stuffed and cozy t-shirts, that offer comfort and joy to families like Lisa’s.

Why Mama Cow Matters:

● One of the few books representing single moms by choice and alternative family structures

● A gentle way to introduce complex topics to toddlers and young children ● A community-driven project created by a mom, for families seeking comfort, affirmation, and connection

● The first in a planned series about surrogacy, adoption, IVF, and more

About the Author

Lisa is a single mom by choice to two amazing boys and the heart behind Mama Cow Has a Baby. When she couldn’t find a children’s book that reflected their family, she created one. She has also been a surrogate for another family, and that experience will inspire one of the upcoming titles in the Mama Cow series. Her goal is to build a world of stories and products that celebrate the many beautiful ways families are made.
