Businesses, organizations and individuals can help ease the holiday burden for families caring for critically-ill children through the nonprofit’s Holiday Basket of Miracles program.
Miracles for Kids is calling on the community to help make the holidays brighter for more than 450 families caring for critically-ill children as registration opens for its 2026 Adopt-a-Family. Part of the nonprofit’s annual Holiday Basket of Miracles program, Adopt-a-Family gives businesses, organizations and individuals an opportunity to directly support a Miracles for Kids family by shopping for gifts based on the family’s individual needs, interests and wishes. For some families, these may be the only gifts they receive this holiday season.
“For families caring for a critically-ill child, the holidays can bring additional financial and emotional pressure at an already overwhelming time,” said Autumn Strier, co-founder and CEO of Miracles for Kids. “Adopt-a-Family gives our community a very personal way to step in and bring some joy to families who are focused on their child’s health. Every family that is adopted is reminded that they are not facing this journey alone.”
Participants are matched with a Miracles for Kids family,
and receive a profile with information about each family member, including their interests and likes. Adopters then purchase meaningful gifts for each member of the family and deliver the gifts to the Miracles for Kids office located at 17848 Sky Park Circle, Suite C, Irvine, CA 92614 by Friday, December 4, 2026. Participants may also have the opportunity to personally deliver gifts directly to their matched family, if they would like.
In addition to adopting a family, community members can support the Holiday Basket of Miracles by donating seasonal items needed to prepare gifts for distribution, including generic holiday wrapping paper, gift tape, gift bags in various sizes, bows, apparel boxes and gift tag stickers.
The Adopt-a-Family initiative is part of the 2026 Holiday Basket of Miracles, taking place December 7-16.
The annual program provides seasonal gifts, food and household essentials to families struggling with the financial and emotional impact of caring for a critically-ill child.
Miracles for Kids supports families with critically-ill children through programs providing financial assistance, housing, basic necessities, wellness services and long-term stability. These programs are designed to help families remain stable amid the financial and emotional challenges of a child’s illness so they can focus on their child’s treatment and recovery.
