Soldier’s Song – A True Story of the Civil War is a colorful, hardcover picture book geared for ages 9-12 (grades 3-5). It’s an inspiring book of the Union Troops and the Confederate Troops in the Civil War back in 1862 sitting on the bank of the Rappahannock River. While music kept each side moving forward to their goal, it also reminded them of their life without war. This music also became a common ground on both sides that their Commanders didn’t want to hear and may have made the peace they needed…if allowed.
