However, it’s important to look at the benefits of choosing to have a loved one moved to a nursing home.

You want the care home that you choose to be a place that’s comfortable, kind and caring. You want your loved one to move into somewhere that they are happy to live in and enjoy spending time at – you want it to be somewhere that feels like home.
Start by thinking about what your loved one might want from a care home and use those points to research the local facilities available. Don’t just visit the website, Google the facility, read reviews, and make sure to post on local social media sites to learn more about people’s experiences with the facility.
Make sure that you visit the care home
It’s a good idea to visit the care home at a few different times before making your decision. It’s important to visit at different times so that you’re able to see how the care home operates at various times.
What you want to look out for is how happy the residents seem and how well looked after they seem. You could even have a chat with some of the residents to see how they like living in the care facility that you’re considering – it’s always great to get reviews from the people already living there.
Look at the building and grounds
It’s important that before making a choice you take the time to rate the building and grounds. What you want to look at is how well maintained everything is, as this is a strong indicator of how well the nursing home – and the people living within it – are taken care of.
Take the time to look at the gardens. Are they well kept? Are the gardens neat and usable? Look at the inside of the building. How well looked after is the inside of the property? These are important questions to be asking.
