Maintaining high levels of confidence can be tricky – especially as there are many ways for your self-esteem to take a hit. However, it’s also important that you work on building your confidence. 

After all, not only is it good for both your physical and mental health, but confident parents tend to raise confident children. Furthermore, confidence can help you unlock a range of doors in both your personal and private life.

With that in mind, here are three ways to feel more confident!

1. Smiling More Often.

When we smile, we automatically trigger the release of specific endorphins within our brains, known as ‘happiness hormones.’ As a result, even a ‘forced’ smile can make you feel a little more confident and can also be useful when handling the uptick of stress and anxiety among mothers today.   

However, smiling more often is easier said than done if your smile is the cause of your low self-esteem. Fortunately, there are many ways you can work around this. For example, you could visit a cosmetic dentist in your local area to work on developing the smile of your dreams. 

2. Follow A Healthy Lifestyle.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can also do wonders for your confidence. This is because you will begin to feel more in tune with your body and its needs. As a result, you’re less likely to indulge in activities that could negatively harm your confidence, such as skipping over your self-care or grooming routine.

Furthermore, a healthy lifestyle can help you to develop a better relationship with your body. For example, you can explore concepts such as body neutrality, designed to help you love the skin you’re in. This means you’ll feel more confident every single day and will also be able to stop comparing yourself to others. 

It’s also important to remember that low self-esteem is often associated with mental health struggles such as anxiety. As a healthy lifestyle can reduce the impact anxiety has on your daily life, it can also be instrumental in rebuilding your confidence and generally adapting to a more positive mindset.

3. Fake it Til You Make It.

The phrase ‘fake it till you make it’ is thrown around a lot when it comes to building confidence, especially in relation to professional pursuits such as job interviews. However, various studies have found that faking confidence can actually be a great way to build it. 

This is because “with persistence, there will be a point when confidence becomes a habit and it will show. That will not only boost your self-esteem, but it will influence the way others see you too.” Thankfully, there are many ways in which you can ‘fake’ confidence. For example, this could begin with changing your posture or how you carry yourself. Instead of letting your shoulders slump, sit up straight and hold your head up high. Don’t shy away from eye contact. The more you practice these behaviors, the more natural they will feel and the more confident you will become!
