American Speed Festival Brings Four Days of Action-Packed Activities to M1 Concourse in Pontiac

Vintage Indy and Stock Cars, a Hot Track & Thrill Rides Available to the Public
The 4th Annual American Speed Festival roars into M1 Concourse in Pontiac on October 3 – 6 with big time racers and big draw vehicles. Richard Petty, the legendary and most decorated race car driver with 200 career victories under his belt, known as “The King,” will be the 2024 Master of Motorsports at this year’s American Speed Festival.

Speed and performance, from Vintage Indy cars,

to historic stock cars, to modern-day supercars will be on display at the M1 Circuit. This is a rare opportunity to experience race cars in motion from every era as they go around the 1.5-mile M1 Concourse Speed Ring.
The 2012 Ferrari Challenge, a high-end factory-built race car which previously raced Formula 1, will be on display in celebration of 30 years of Ferrari racing.

The 1952 Fabulous Hudson Hornet AAA stock car,

widely known as “Doc” from the movie Cars, will be on-site to see up close. The Hornet was inducted into the National Historic Vehicle Register in 2022, is the only remaining factory-racing Hornet and is the oldest winning race car known to exist.
The 1993 Mellow Yellow 500 #42 NASCAR stock car driven by Kyle Petty from 1991-94 will be on-site to see.

Thursday, October 3, at 10 AM,

the festival kicks off with the Drive & Dine Tour for scenic cruising tour of personal vehicles to visit a rarely seen private car and motorcycle collection, a live cooking display by the head chef from Fork ‘n Pint, and a cigar rolling demo and craft beer presentation upon return to M1 Concourse. Those who register for Dine & Drive will also have access to the M1 Club Motor Grille Dinner Reception that evening.

Friday, October 4, 8 AM – 5 PM,

features a plethora of activities open to the public to feel the thrill of powerful engines including NASCAR Hall of Fame presentations, big block race cars, student-designed Formula SAE cars, a family fun zone with radio-controlled cars and slot replica of the track, and a biergarten and global food stalls to sample foods from around the world. Friday also offers an option to attend a Garage Reveal at 6 PM of one of the largest private collections housed at M1 with a treasure trove of iconic vehicles. The docent-led tour will peek behind the curtain to see rare vehicles, architectural designs, and impressive sights not viewable on the streets. A special dinner and craft cocktails will be provided before the garages open.

Saturday, October 5, 8 AM – 5 PM,

showcases another day of fun with all the activities on Friday plus this year’s annual Checkered Flag Ball and Bootleggers Bash charity event will be held in the evening to raise funds for M1 Mobility, which provides Pontiac residents’ with access to community programs and services.

Sunday, October 6, 8 AM – 4 PM,

the Speed and Style event will feature all cars that personify performance. Thrill rides will be available for guests to take laps with a professional driver. An awards presentation of the races will conclude the festival.
General admission includes on-site access, parking, shuttles, premium food trucks, the arena biergarten, access to all show and display cars, racetrack experiences, Insiders’ Garage Speakers Symposium, R/C off-road racetrack, the awards show, music and entertainment.

Friday through Sunday, two- and three-day packages are available for savings. Special discounts for active duty, retired military and seniors ages 62+. Kids aged six and under are free.
