RED ONE Now in Theatres-Review!

RED ONE Now in Theatres-Review!

I got to pre-screen and review RED ONE on November 12 at Emagine Theatre (Royal Oak) in exchange for this post. Any opinions expressed here are honest and my own.

Synopsis:

After Santa Claus – Code Name: RED ONE (J.K. Simmons) – is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas. Rated PG-13

Watch Trailer Below:

YES, Santa (RED ONE) goes missing…

This movie is a lot of fun and met expectations especially for this all-star cast. It was action packed and hilarious! Santa is a modern-day Santa opposite of what we grew up with, I won’t give away too much on that. The technology and perception of how Santa and his reindeer, elves, etc. would be definitely meet the sign of the times and how Santa and his team would operate today.  Don’t worry, it all ends well on the adventurous hunt for Santa Claus. Again, I don’t want to give away too much as you will want to see how it turns out for yourself.

There are a couple hidden messages in there that are great which Callum and Jack O’ Malley get to learn important lessons which changes their perceptions on a few things. 😉

Here are the some of the main characters in RED ONE:

Santa Claus (RED ONE) | J.K. Simmons

Callum Drift | Dwayne Johnson

Mrs. Claus | Bonnie Hunt

Jack O’Malley | Chris Evans

Krampus (Santa’s Brother) | Kristofer Hivju

My hubby really liked it and said it was “funny and action packed!” This isn’t like your typical warm and fuzzy Santa Claus movie. There’s a definite spin on the traditional.

For parents wondering if it’s okay for their kiddies to see RED ONE…Honestly, it’s PG-13 for a reason. In my opinion, I feel it’s catered more toward the adult crowd and mature teens and young adults. And obviously based on your beliefs and what content you allow for your child.

FYI: There is strong language, (several cuss words throughout the film).  There are two women in scantily clad swimwear briefly in a beach scene. There is some violence (not bloody), and frightening and intense scenes not suited for little ones.

RED ONE is about 2 hours long.

Overall, I recommend this movie for those who are Chris Evans, Dwayne Johnson, and/or J.K. Simmons fans. I would consider this a fun date night for the parents. Leave the kiddies at home or with the sitter! 😉

RED ONE opens in theatres today!
