Despite many new flooring trends arising over the years, carpet remains one of the top choices for most rooms in your home. There’s no point in lying and saying that a carpeted floor is fantastic in your kitchen or bathroom—it won’t be, for obvious waterproofing reasons. But when you look at the rest of your home, there’s really no reason to consider anything other than a carpeted floor. It’s remained popular for decades—and new-build properties all contain a lot of carpet—so here are the arguments for it being the best option in your home.

The Easiest Flooring To Install

Laying down carpet requires minimal prep, and it’s probably the only flooring you can install by yourself with a high degree of confidence. Because of this, it’s also one of the only flooring types where companies will dish out quality carpets with free fitting. New carpet can be laid down within a couple of hours by professionals, meaning it’s by far the most convenient choice out there.

Moreover, the easy installability allows you to rip up your carpet and lay down a new one whenever you feel like it. You’re not locked into having a laminate of hardwood floor for decades—there’s more freedom with carpet!

Unbeatable Warmth & Soundproofing

You realize the main benefits of carpet when preparing your home for winter. No flooring competes with its ability to retain warmth in your home. The comfortable feel of carpet underfoot stops you from freezing over, mainly because the material fibers trap a lot of heat in and provide an underfoot layer of insulation. At the same time, carpet doesn’t make your home feel too warm during the summer; you can walk barefoot to remain cool!

The thickness and warmth of carpet also make it the best soundproofing flooring option you will ever find. No flooring type suits upstairs rooms more than this one, as it muffles footsteps and stops you from hearing people clunking around all the time.

Hides Dirt & Is Still Easy To Clean

Carpet maintenance gets a bad rep because you have to whip out a vacuum cleaner with a lot of suction – and you also have to worry about stains and spillages. Granted, carpet isn’t great from a stain perspective, even though you can find really good carpet stain remover products that work wonders.

On the other hand, it’s still really easy to clean a carpet, and you can get away with not doing it as frequently as other floorings. Tiles, hardwood, laminate, and LVT all show dust and dirt on their surfaces, which means you have to constantly sweep and vacuum them. Carpet hides dust and dirt, so you can vacuum once every couple of weeks if you want. Plus, there’s not a huge difference in the amount of effort it takes to vacuum or steam clean a carpet compared to cleaning harder floors—they also require mopping after you’ve removed dust/debris.

As long as there’s no water or humidity involved, carpet remains a supreme choice for any other room in the house. It’s easy to install, very affordable, the best at retaining heat and blocking sound, and actually offers a less stressful maintenance schedule.
