The Fly Who Flew to Space by Lauren Sánchez Bezos Selected to Receive Prestigious AIAA Children’s Literature Award
Oakland, CA – – Independent, woman-owned publisher The Collective Book Studio proudly announced that their book, The Fly Who Flew to Space by Lauren Sánchez Bezos, has been named the recipient of the 2025 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Elementary Children’s Literature Award.

Presented annually by the AIAA STEM K–12 Outreach Committee,

the award honors outstanding, original contributions in youth literature that inspire curiosity and understanding of aeronautics and astronautics. Sánchez Bezos and the book will be recognized during the AIAA SciTech Forum and Exposition in Orlando, Florida, on January 12, 2026, one of the most respected global gatherings for aerospace leaders and innovators.
“This award truly reflects Lauren’s remarkable creativity and talent for storytelling,” said Angela Engel, founder and publisher of The Collective Book Studio. “We are honored to partner with Lauren Sánchez Bezos—her book encourages young readers everywhere to dream big and believe in their ability to accomplish anything they set their minds to.”

In The Fly Who Flew to Space,

Bezos introduces readers to the adventurous fly called Flynn whose curiosity goes beyond Earth’s atmosphere, blending humor, heart, and real science to show that exploration is possible for everyone—no matter how small.
“It’s an incredible honor to receive this award,” remarked Lauren Sánchez Bezos. “As a mother and author, I know firsthand how impactful books are in shaping children. My hope is that kids who read The Fly Who Flew To Space are inspired to dream beyond boundaries and understand that possibilities are limitless.”
The AIAA award follows a string of milestones for The Fly Who Flew to Space, including being named one of the Best Books of the Year in Spanish by Barnes & Noble earlier this year.
