A new study from Flipsnack, the online flipbook maker, has analyzed search data to identify the most popular college majors in Michigan.
The results show that psychology leads the pack with a search volume of 957, demonstrating strong student interest in understanding human behavior and mental processes. This can lead to careers in counseling, human resources, market research, and social services. The degree provides strong analytical and interpersonal skills valued across healthcare, education, and business sectors.
Computer science emerges as the second most popular major, with a search volume of 758. Computer science majors develop technical skills in programming, software development, data structures, and systems analysis, leading to high-demand careers in technology.
Students pursuing music, the third most popular major with 713 monthly searches, appear to be drawn to developing performance, composition, theory, and education skills for careers in entertainment, education, and arts administration.
Social Work ranks fourth in popularity with 666 monthly searches. Social Work degrees prepare compassionate professionals to help individuals, families, and communities overcome challenges and improve well-being.
Rounding out the top five is communications, which attracts a significant 654 monthly searches. Graduates work as content creators, PR specialists, social media managers, and communications directors across diverse organizations.
