Filmed For IMAX®
Director Timur Bekmambetov worked closely with IMAX throughout the filmmaking process to tailor Mercy to the unique scope and scale of The IMAX Experience®. From camera tests before the shoot began all the way through post-production, Bekmambetov made specific creative and technical decisions to deliver a movie that is meant to be seen in IMAX.
Shot with IMAX-certified digital cameras, the film captures both the intensity of the digital courtroom sequences and the realism of the flashback scenes with unmatched depth, fidelity, and scale.
Mercy features 62 minutes of IMAX’s exclusive 1.90:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio, filling the spectacular IMAX screen from floor to ceiling. Director Timur Bekmambetov strategically selected the film’s most pivotal and emotional moments to expand in IMAX. Only in IMAX theatres will audiences experience more picture than anywhere else.
The film was enhanced frame by frame using IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering (DMR) technology for exceptional sharpness, color accuracy, and contrast, and features a dedicated sound mix optimized specifically for IMAX.
Select showings will also be presented in IMAX 3D, delivering superior brightness, detail, and immersion through advanced projection systems and IMAX’s custom-designed theatres—uniquely amplifying Bekmambetov’s dynamic vision and placing audiences at the center of the action. |
