Council Re|Sale (3297 12 Mile Road, Berkley, MI 48072) one of the oldest resale shops in metro Detroit, will be hosting its annual Spring Showcase on Sun. March 22 from noon to 5 p.m. The popular event will feature spring fashion and accessories for both men and women at bargain prices and will include high-end brands including Johnny Was, St. John, Burberry, Theory, Tory Burch, Stuart Weitzman, Lululemon and Athleta. This year there will be a new designated area featuring vintage clothing, to join another recently launched collection, the Couture and More department.  Shoppers interested in being the first to shop during Spring Showcase can pre-register for $25 for the early shopping hour at 11 a.m. prior to the opening of the store to the public at noon; pre-register with payment at the store. Capital One Shopping reported that shoppers save an average of $2,071 per year by purchasing secondhand. Council Re|Sale is operated by National Council of Jewish Women, Michigan (NCJW|MI) and is known for carrying high-end clothing, including designer wear, jewelry, shoes and household items all donated by the community. Ahead of Spring Showcase, shoppers can enjoy some special pre-showcase end-of-season sales:

  • Sun. March 15, noon to 4 p.m. the entire store is 75% off
  • Mon. March 16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the entire store is 90% off
  •  Tues. March 17, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the store is running a $35 Fill-a-Bag Sale (excluding jewelry & home décor)
  • Wed. March 18 to Sat. March 21 the store will be closed in preparation for Spring Showcase

The new collection of vintage clothing has been launched because of the outstanding donations the store receives that appeal to shoppers who love classic, beautifully preserved stylish clothing. In addition, shoppers in search of vintage items for their home may find mid-century modern lamps, dishes, glassware and more in the home décor department.

“If you are planning on spring cleaning your closet or your home, Council Re|Sale would be thrilled to take your clothing and home décor donations,” said NCJW|MI President Amy Zeskind. “Then come shop at our Spring Showcase which offers the perfect opportunity to refresh your wardrobe for the upcoming season without breaking the bank, as you’ll find designer and high-end brands at a fraction of the original price.”

Proceeds raised at Council Re|Sale,

which was originally opened in 1934 in Detroit, go towards the many community impact projects and social advocacy work which NCJW|MI, a 501(c)(3) organization, run to benefit local families. Projects by the 135-year-old organization include the annual Back 2 School Store which provides free clothing and school supplies to 900 Detroit children in need each year, and another program which provides backpacks and school supplies to 1000 homeless children through Oakland Schools Student Education Services plus 500 children in need identified through Jewish Family Service. Other initiatives include literacy outreach, fleece blankets for children in hospitals and in foster care, and Kosher Meals on Wheels. The organization is also at the forefront of voter advocacy and women’s reproductive rights, holding programs and educational initiatives to promote these issues.

Council Re|Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; donations of clothing, household items, home décor items and accessories (not books, large furniture or large electronics) are accepted Monday through Saturday, excluding Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on Council Re|Sale go to www.councilresale.net; for more information on National Council of Jewish Women, Michigan go to www.ncjwmi.org
