Staying in a top-end hotel suite can feel pretty magical, but it’s important to keep in mind that you can absolutely bring touches of that goodness into your home by making a few adjustments. All too often, people assume that transforming their bathroom into a spa-worthy space requires a big budget and big ambitions, but that’s not strictly true. Even a few cost-effective changes can radically transform how you experience your bathroom.

Looking for some inspiration? We’ve got you covered. We’ve put together a list of some high-impact changes that can quickly turn your bathroom into a space that you absolutely love spending time in.

Upgrade Your Lighting

You can see why homeowners opt for an overhead light in the bathroom. It’s pretty functional, after all. With that said, while it’ll allow you to see everything, you’d be hard-pressed to call it a pleasant sensory experience. That depends on there being ambient lighting. Switching to dimmer lights using warm white bulbs can make the space much gentler on the eyes. Another option is to add a heated mirror with built-in lighting; not only will it give you a flattering light, but it’ll also demist the mirror after showering, making it easier to get ready.

Install a Steam Shower

Looking to instantly transform your bathroom from being a space that’s functional to one that’s luxurious? Then take a look at adding a steam shower. They’re outstanding for relaxing the mind, body, and spirit and give you the chance to have the luxury hotel experience right in your own home, every single day. It’s one of those upgrades that can make a world of difference to your morning/night routine. All of a sudden, your shower becomes much more than a functional asset. It becomes a place that you really want to be.

Invest in Quality Towels

One of the most impactful additions you can add to your bathroom is also one of the most affordable. It’s easy to overlook how impactful a towel can be to your bathroom experience, but hotels choose quality towels for a reason—they really do offer a luxury touch every single time. When buying, focus on the GSM of the towel. Most people buy towels with a GSM of around 400 – 500. Luxury hotel towels sit in the 700+ range. They’re slightly more expensive, but oh so worth it.

Get Serious About Decluttering

Part of what makes hotel suite bathrooms so enjoyable is that they have so much space. And the reason why they have all that space? Well, it’s because there’s virtually nothing in them. It’s all too easy for a domestic bathroom to become cluttered with old cosmetics, toothbrushes, towels, and all the other products that feel like they belong in your bathroom.

Getting serious about decluttering removes that problem. When we say ‘get serious,’ we really mean it—homeowners who declutter aggressively (that is, only keep the items that truly belong there) will quickly find that their bathroom is a lot more spacious and enjoyable to be in.
