Calling all movie fanatics and enthusiasts! Have you experienced MJR’s ScreenX? If you haven’t, you will definitely want to view an upcoming movie in this format.
Here are some features from the new and popular film Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day was “Shot for SCREENX” and marks the first time SCREENX collaborated with the filmmakers from on-set production through the theatrical release, providing them with a new creative canvas.
- Designed specifically for SCREENX, the experience is an authentic extension of the filmmakers’ vision that further brings fans into the world of Spider-Man.
- The film was shot with SCREENX cameras from the very start and conceived to be experienced in SCREENX, making it the definitive way to see one of the most anticipated titles of the summer.
- The SCREENX auditorium at the MJR Marketplace Cinema has been fully transformed into an immersive Spider-Man environment, so that the experience starts well before the movie even begins. The themed takeovers are designed to draw guests into the world of Spider-Man through fully reimagined auditoriums featuring custom overlays, themed chair covers, commemorative photo ops, and additional immersive touches throughout. For this movie, even though it is shown at other locations that full take over is just at MJR Marketplace.
- SCREENX is the world’s first multi-projection cinema technology, delivering a 270-degree panoramic viewing experience that extends select scenes beyond the main screen and onto screens wrapping around the auditorium walls. MJR is the only theatres in Michigan that have the ScreenX. They have it at their Westland, Waterford, and Marketplace location.
My oldest daughter Kelly and her boyfriend Michael got to experience Spider-Man: Brand New Day on ScreenX at MJR Marketplace Digital in Sterling Heights on Friday, July 31st! Here’s what they had to say about the experience:
ScreenX Review
“Screen X created a thrilling peripheral effect during key scenes in the movie. The system utilizes 4 extra projectors for the side screens which are timed to project during specific scenes. The side screens are typically blurred to replicate peripheral vision. During Spider-Man: Brand New Day, ScreenX added an extra touch of immersion during action scenes, spidey swinging through the city, or in other visually thrilling moments. –Kelly
Movie Review
“On release day, Brand New Day became our favorite MCU movie. The quality of storytelling, visual framing, and acting is a level we haven’t seen in the MCU for some time. Overall, it had great depth and strong themes of growth, coping with change, and the importance of connection through it all.
This is the most like Spider-Man we have seen MCU Peter Parker be; a good balance of crafty, a little sad, quippy, and compassionate. Peter Parker continues to flip the script in the superhero world.” – Kelly
“Screen X was a unique and interesting twist on a traditional movie going experience. The 3 screens made it a more immersive experience because of how while watching the main screen you saw the surroundings of the scene in your peripheral vision. It was very cool at first feeling a little as if you were inside the movie. One critique I have is that the side screens are not on all the time so when they turn on and off it does take you out of things a little bit. Overall, it was still a fun experience.”-Michael
Movie review:
“Spider-Man Brand New Day is the newest installment in Tom Hollands Spider-Man series and it was a fresh take on the character. This movie is a deeper and introspective take on Peter and his relationships and it works very well. It has plenty of homages to classic Spider-Man which fans will enjoy as well as an emotional and personal story. The action sequences were the weakest part of the film but that is more a testament to how invested I was in Peter’s journey and trauma. Ultimately this movie is a fun and engaging time that will leave you laughing and crying.”-Michael
