Helpless Survivor Sexually Attacked By Doctor.
Farmington Hills, Michigan – Michigan Sexual Assault Lawyers announces that a multi-million dollar lawsuit has been filed on behalf of plaintiff, Jane Doe, for sexual assault committed by Dr. Oumair Aejaz at Genesys Hospital.
On May 9, 2024,
Jane Doe was admitted to the emergency department at Genesys Hospital after going into Diabetic ketoacidosis.
She was in and out of consciousness. During that time, while completely helpless in a hospital bed, she was sexually assaulted and recorded by Dr. Oumair Aejaz multiple times.
At the time, Jane Doe had no awareness that Dr. Aejaz had sexually assaulted her multiple times.
Jane Doe did not learn of Dr. Aejaz’s attacks until nearly two years later when the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department showed her video footage and photographs of Dr. Aejaz assaulting her while she lay helpless at Genesys Hospital.
“Hospitals must keep their patients safe,” said Michigan Sexual Assault Lawyers lead attorney Timothy A. Holland. “Hospitals have a duty to the communities they serve to do everything necessary to ensure that the people coming to them for care are protected and safe from assault and attack by predators hiding among their medical staff.”
Holland added:
“Tragically, Genesys Hospital failed to protect Jane Doe from the monstrous actions of predator Dr. Oumair Aejaz, an internist who practiced at the hospital. The proof is indisputable. Aejaz’s attack on Jane Doe is documented by both video and photograph. The blame as well as the shame for this violation of Jane Doe’s bodily integrity and personal safety lies squarely and exclusively with Genesys Hospital and the predator it let loose among its patients.”
“No person should ever have to endure the trauma and the horror that Jane Doe has suffered,” said attorney Laura Skenderas of Michigan Sexual Assault Lawyers. “Holding her attacker and all negligent parties fully accountable is an essential step in her process of healing and recovery.”
Dr. Oumair Aejaz is a medical doctor known as an internist, meaning he specializes in internal medicine.
After his wife discovered in August 2024 that Dr. Aejaz had been secretly recording individuals at the hospitals where he practiced medicine as well as in his home, she contacted law enforcement. They obtained a search warrant for Dr. Aejaz’s home from which they recovered six computers, four cell phones and 15 hard drives. News reports indicated that one hard drive contained approximately 13,000 videos that Dr. Aejaz had allegedly recorded over the last 6 years.
The video recordings reportedly included videos of Dr. Aejaz allegedly sexually assaulting women lying unconscious in hospital beds.
In November 2025,
a Macomb County judge approved a $125 million class-action lawsuit settlement between Henry Ford Health System and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and class members who provide proof that between January 1, 2018, and August 8, 2024, either Dr. Aejaz recorded them and sexually assaulted them or Dr. Aejaz videorecorded them in a state of undress or in a sexualized manner.
In December 2025, after having pled no contest to all charges, Dr. Aejaz was convicted of 31 counts of sexual misconduct – including 5 counts of criminal sexual conduct – in Oakland County and sentenced to 35-60 years in prison.
