Back in November of 2013, I received the awesome opportunity of reviewing the Mommy MD Guide to Losing Weight and Feeling Great by Rallie McAllister, MD, MPH and Jennifer Bright Reich!  I was now offered the opportunity to review their Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth.

While I am not expecting any more babies (experienced 4 beautiful full term pregnancies and births), I was very happy to read and review this particular guide filled with more than 900 tips!

“Tips That 60 Doctors Who Are Also Mothers Use During Their Own Pregnancies and Births.”

Pregnancy and delivery is an exciting time, but it can also raise many questions and concerns, especially if you are a new mom-to-be!

The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth is 43 chapters long and broken into 4 parts to help you understand each week and what to expect along with tips etc.  Here is a summary of the guide’s contents to give you an idea of what is covered throughout the book:

Part 1: Your First Trimester

The first trimester of pregnancy is the most critical as it is the first 13 weeks of pregnancy.  Chapters 1-13 take you through an idea of:

  • Baby’s size
  • Latest Developments of mom and baby
  • Prenatal care
  • Diet

and more.

Part II: Your Second Trimester

The second trimester of pregnancy are weeks 14 to 27.  This is where it begins to get even more exciting as you will feel the first movements of your precious baby at this time.  Again, part II will cover baby’s size, latest mom and baby developments, prenatal care, and suggestions and tips such as:

  • Taking a vacation with your partner
  • Telling the other children or family members about your news.
  • Handling Unsolicited Advice (trust me, you may get this kind of advice)

Part III: Your Third Trimester

This is the final trimester before sweet baby arrives.  The third trimester of pregnancy are weeks 28-40 and beyond.  By this time you are feeling all out kicks and jabs and you are showing your baby bump to the world in stylish maternity wear or maybe in something you are just plain comfortable in at this time.  Again, the guide will talk about baby’s size, mom and baby’s latest developments, and much more.

By this time you are eager to:

  • Decorate your nursery (Nesting instinct is running strong at this point)
  • Buy Baby Equipment
  • Consider a Doula

and much more.

Part IV: Your Baby’s Birth

The time has finally come! Your sweet baby is here.  The Pregnancy to Birth Guide will cover:

  • Going into Labor
  • Having your Water Break
  • Getting Ready to Go to the Hospital or Birthing Center
  • Making it Through Labor
  • Controlling Labor Pain
  • Having a C-Section
  • Breastfeeding for the First Time

and much more!

I wish I could cover every single tip in this book as there is so much, but I guess you will just have to see for yourself, ha!  I wish I had this guide at the time of my pregnancies, it’s absolutely wonderful.

I highly recommend this particular pregnancy to birth guide to all of those who are currently expecting.  It’s an amazing resource and tool to help you through one of the most exciting events in your life.

I want to say thanks again to Dr. Rallie and Jennifer Bright for allowing me this opportunity to review this book and share with our readers.  It has been a pure joy to do so!

The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth can also be purchased over on Amazon in Paperback ($15.84) and Kindle ($4.99)
