A Community Event from the Children’s Hospital of Michigan

This event is so close to my heart as my oldest daughter lost her first sibling in 2005 even though she was younger than 4 at the time of her loss.  I am honored to share this info with you sent directly from the Children’s Hospital of Michigan:

Join us for a Road Trip to Healing! The Palliative Care Team at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan invites you to their 2014 Bereavement Camp for Children and Families. This day camp is designed specifically for children aged 4 – 18 years who have lost a sibling.

Camp activities are created to help reduce feelings of isolation and help children appropriately express their grief at losing a sibling, encourage positive coping skills, and promote peer support by connecting families with similar experiences. All activities will be done in age-appropriate groups with trained staff and volunteers.

Parents are invited to attend an optional group session with a grief counselor, and all immediate family members are asked to join camp attendees at the end of the day for family activities and a closing ceremony.

WHO: Children 4 – 18 years

WHAT: Bereavement Camp for Sibling Loss

WHEN: Saturday, June 28, 2014

WHERE: Kirby Church in Flat Rock, MI

Interested families can contact Beth Voyles at (313)745-7226 or find more information on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1488685441350960/
