I received samples of pain relief patches by Salonpas in exchange for this post.  All opinions expressed here are honest and my own.

Are you looking for muscle pain relief alternatives?  Salonpas Pain Relief Patches (a product of Hisamitsu), offers relief for temporary to moderate pain for:

  • Sore muscles
  • Sprains
  • Backache
  • Joint Pain

The pain relief patches are a Topical Analgesic.  They are also 3% Menthol and 10% Methyl Salicylate.  I received the minty scent.

Salonpas patches have been FDA approved as non-prescription.

I have some very serious concerns about these patches that I feel I must share with you.  The back of the package states that there is a stomach bleeding warning for ages 60 and older, if you had stomach ulcers, take aspirin or ibuprofen, etc.  These are definitely important to know before trying these patches out.

You are not to use the pain relief patches on wounds or damaged skin, if allergic to aspirin, with a heating pad, when sweating, and before heart surgery.

There is risk for heart attack or stroke if you use longer than directed.

As you can guess this product is only for ages 18+.

Because I am skeptical of these types of products, I will not be using them, but I am happy to promote for those that feel they could benefit from it, especially if you deal with muscle and joint pain.  I don’t typically deal with these issues so upon much decision I decided that this product is not for me upon reading the back of the box.

If you think you could benefit from this product, I would be happy to pass these on to you.  First come first serve at Lindsey@michiganmomliving.com.

  1. Please consider my husband and I. I have an old work injury in my shoulder, and my husband has degenerative disc disease with a couple of bulging discs. Salonpas is a staple in our home and I share with my adult children, as well. Great product!!
