Raising kids isn’t as easy as we thought. There are so many more dynamics, situations, and obstacles than there used to be. Parenting With Presence by Susan Stiffelman, instills and reassures us as parents that we can still practice raising conscious, confident, and caring kids even in this difficult time we are in. In Parenting with Presence, Susan shares some great personal stories and real practice tools to utilize in our families. The book also includes parent exercise sections that will assist parents with family situations that need resolving with their children. Also, Stiffelman shared many Q & A’s with helpful suggestions for parents.

I found this book to be an easy read and very understandable for all parents whether you are a new mom or have many years of parenting under your belt. It’s a must have book and offers something to learn for everyone.

Here is one of my favorite sections in the book:

“I realized that it takes unbelievable courage to be a parent. Every day, we wake up and face the possibility of a meltdown over shoes or dirty looks from a snarly teen. It takes courage to be a parent, and there is no elixir or magic pill that makes us brave enough. We simply have to put one food in front of another and do our best.
My hope is that as you read these chapters, you will just allow the ideas I’m sharing to become seeds in your consciousness. The last thing I want for you is to feel that you’ve fallen short by not being honest or accountable or compassionate enough.
Simply do your best. Be kind. Make mistakes. Fall down. Get back up. Reach for courage. And if you can’t find any, say a prayer or ask a friend to prop you up. It’s all one day at a time. Be kind to yourself.”

We all need encouragement to raise conscious, confident, and caring kids.  Susan Stiffelman does a great job pushing us along.
