AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 7, 2015 – Merlin Entertainments, the world’s second largest visitor attraction operator, is asking the Michigan community for help in determining which of the area’s beloved landmarks – historic buildings, big bridges or famous statues – should be built from LEGO® brick and featured in the MINILAND exhibit when the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Michigan attraction opens next spring. Inspired by the metro Detroit region’s sights and culture, MINILAND is a miniature LEGO brick landscape of local buildings, attractions and other notable landmarks, and is one of the most highly anticipated displays at each new LEGOLAND Discovery Center.

“We are thrilled to invite LEGO fans and members of the public to participate in creating our very own MINILAND exhibit,” said Hayley Anderson, general manager for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan. “We know that the completed MINILAND will be a spectacular showpiece that represents the places we love most about metro Detroit and Michigan, and will inspire families and visitors from across the region.”

The first round of MINILAND voting will allow fans to write-in their favorite landmarks, and will run through LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan’s Facebook page from Monday, Oct. 12 through Monday, Oct. 26. The top ten most popular landmarks will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and a final top landmark will be determined through a second round of voting running from Monday, Nov. 2, through Monday, Nov. 16.

The winning landmark will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and will be unveiled prior to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan’s grand opening at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills this spring. LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan will be a 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction featuring millions of LEGO bricks and themed exhibits including a 4D cinema, two interactive rides, large soft play areas and much more.
