When taking a road trip with the kiddies, it can be easy to just equip them with all matter of technology ranging from Nintendo DS to the iPad. Is there a way to keep kids engaged without using technology all of the time? Remember those days of just reading physical books in the car? Kids can learn to appreciate books again and all the while riding in the car. Here are my top 5 picks of children’s books that are great for traveling in the car:

1. Cars: Rushing! Honking! Zooming!, by Patricia Hubbell. This fun book will take your child on a wild ride. Kiddies will learn about different styles of cars and who drives them. You may hear giggles coming from the backseat!

2. If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen-This is a great way to engage your kiddies on a road trip. Before reading the book, ask them what they would do if they built a car. After reading this fun little book about a boy who has designed the ultimate fantasy car, ask your kids about their ideas. This is a great way to pass the time.
