Disney•Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” in 3D {Movie Review} In Theaters Today 11/25!

I screened Disney Pixar’s: The Good Dinosaur with my 6-year-old daughter in exchange for this review.  Any opinions expressed here are honest and my own.

The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?  Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo (voice of Raymond Ochoa) makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of. Directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream (“Cars 2”), Disney•Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” opens in theaters on Nov. 25, 2015. (DISNEY/PIXAR) This film is rated PG.

“The Good Dinosaur” is a cute and fun Disney Pixar film.  It’s definitely not what I expected, yet still fun, especially in 3D.  The graphics and animation in the movie is amazing.  Many of the scenes such as mountains, landscapes,  water, fields, etc., look so real.  A couple of times I almost forgot I was watching an animated movie.  Very impressive how far Disney has come with animation.

The movie takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, of course that is just me.  I cry at just about anything lol.  One minute you are tearing up and the next laughing.  There may be some intense parts for kids 6 and under such as animals briefly eating other animals (food chain), loud dinosaur roars, thunder and lightening. My 6-year-old covered her eyes and jumped maybe once or twice so it definitely depends on what your child is capable of watching.  Other than that she was “awing and giggling” most of the time.  I loved how it raised emotions in her and she was able to identify and recognize what was serious and what was silly at specific times.  I did have to explain why Arlo’s little cave boy friend “Spot” behaved literally like an animal. Ha!  He’s a cute little guy!

There was a little bit of rough behavior with 3 dinosaurs that Arlo came in contact with on his journey home.  They reminded me of rough and tough cowboys.  They used the word “dang”  a lot so if you are picky about those kinds of words, this is just a little heads up.  At one point I thought that one of them was about to say the “S” word around the campfire, but was quickly cut off.  I may have been hearing things, but it was never said, so no worries there.

This was my youngest daughter’s very first movie review with mommy so she was ecstatic along with enjoying an Icee and some popcorn.  The simple things in life are definitely the ones to cherish.

We look forward to watching it again and taking the whole family this time.

You can stay up to date with the movie on Facebook.
