What To Do If Your Car Doors Are Frozen Shut

With extreme cold temps comes car doors possibly becoming frozen shut.  This happened once and wasn’t pretty.  Rule of thumb, if it’s stuck shut, don’t try to pry it open.  It will break the door.  My kids and I learned the hard way.  Don’t make this same mistake. Shortly after our mishap I decided to research what to do if this happens.

Here are some great tips thanks to GirlsAutoClinic.com:

  • First try all entrances of the vehicle including the trunk or hatch
  • Use an ice scrapper if the door is completely covered in ice.  You can most likely chip some of it away.
