Rekindled is a historical fiction about how Roger Williams becomes the original architect of the separation of church and state. He must survive the men that intend to silence him in order to engineer and demonstrate a new society structure that will protect people voicing ideas and heartfelt convictions while keeping civil peace. If he fails, the tragedy of needless loss of life and livelihood will continue unabated on both sides of the Atlantic. Roger Williams obtained the first charter for the colony of Rhode Island in 1644, as an explicit experiment in the separation of church and state.

Even though Rekindled is a historical fiction…you will learn plenty of facts of people, church, state, etc and you will wonder if it all isn’t a non-fiction book.  The Author, Teresa Irizarry really did her homework when researching and was able to share so much detail.  She also shares a great Appendix in the back of the book explaining excepts, family trees and list of characters to dig even deeper and background of this worthy cause.

If you’re a historical fiction reader looking for that next book that keeps you coming back for more, this biggie of 475 pages will fit the bill.  Get your copy today at, and

More about the Author

Teresa Irizarry worked as an engineer for a large corporation for several decades.  She noticed that it was Roger Williams’s enemies that controlled the narrative, and used her trouble-shooting skills in going back to the original sources to discover a new perspective on the Roger Williams.  During her career she met memorable, brilliant people from all over the world who were pursuing the American dream, a dream forged in part in the previously de-emphasized or forgotten parts of this story.

Sidenote:  Author Teresa Irizarry’s son was disappointed when he didn’t find his idol Chuck Yeager listed anywhere in his family tree while doing research for a school project. Just as her son considered Chuck Yeager to be an important part of his life, however removed their relationship may actually be, Irizarry idolizes Roger Williams, an important player in our nation’s history. In her new historical fiction, “Rekindled,” Irizarry takes readers back in time to discover the real founder of the separation of church and state, Roger Williams.
