Mommy Review by-Elizabeth

My name is Elizabeth. Mother of two kids, and babysitter of many. I enjoy crafts, crochet and bow making in particular, but I have many, many other crafts I dabble in. I am thrilled to be testing this book as it allows me to introduce needle arts to my 2.5 year old.
I am reviewing the book, Fun with Stitchables by Suzi Ultman. This is an interactive book, if you will. It covers common terms, techniques, and the basics of cross stitching in the first part. The second part is jam-packed with sturdy cardboard cut outs where you can practice everything you’ve just learned. The cut outs range from super simple shapes to rather detailed designs. You have the freedom to stitch whatever you want, with whatever you want.

I went through the book myself first, brushed up on some terms and techniques, and then introduced it to my daughter (2.5) and my friend’s daughter (10). I set them both up with some yarn and embroidery needles and then had them pick out what shapes they wanted to start with. My daughter picked a hexagon and my friend’s daughter picked a more difficult design. Both girls had a blast.  They both ended up stitching 2 shapes each and they really had fun with it. Overall, I would say this book is a great way to introduce needle arts to youngsters.
Fun with Stitchables can be purchased on Amazon!
