Michigan Resale Shop Celebrating 86 years in Business, Reopens with a Commitment to Safety

All merchandise is 50 percent off during July

Council Re|Sale (3297 W. 12 Mile Road, Berkley, MI 48072) one of the oldest resale shops in metro Detroit, was forced to close its doors at the start of the pandemic to keep staff and customers safe.

The store originally opened in 1934 at 89 Rowena St. in Detroit

and is operated by National Council of Jewish Women, Michigan (NCJW|MI), a volunteer and social advocacy organization. Now the store is re-opening with stringent safety measures and a 50 percent off sale. In addition, every week there will be a new rack selling items for just $1.

“Our wonderful donors really cleaned out their closets during the lockdown, setting aside fabulous items of clothing for us. We started accepting donations mid-June, all of which have been quarantined, and they have been coming in by the carload!” said Amy Cutler, President of NCJW| MI. “

As we open our doors to customers, we want to assure them that we are following the most stringent of guidelines from the CDC, National Institute of Health and Oakland County. They can shop for gorgeous bargains knowing they are safe.”

Safety measures include:

· All newly donated items are held in a storage pod for a safe amount of time

· All staff practice social distancing and wearing masks and gloves while handling donations

· Staff and volunteers will have temperature checks daily

· Touch Free donation station at the back of the store; donors call 248.548.6664 when they arrive

· Hand sanitizing stations

· Only 10 shoppers allowed into the store at one time

· No dressing rooms – clothes can be returned for Council Cash within 10 days of purchase; returned items will be quarantined

Council Re|Sale is known for having high-end clothing,

including designer wear and other hidden treasures. All its proceeds go towards supporting the many projects National Council of Jewish Women, Michigan run to benefit Detroit area women, children, and families in need.

Opening hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday;

donations of clothing (not home accessories or books currently) are accepted Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on Council Re|Sale go to www.councilresale.net; for more information on National Council of Jewish Women, Michigan go to www.ncjwmi.org
