It seems that in the current day and age more girls are starting smoking from a very early age. All you need to do is walk around the streets to see youngsters sparking up a cigarette. Unfortunately, it seems to have become something that is just accepted. Yet this post will reveal why it is imperative that all teenage girls begin giving up smoking.
Half the issue is that these kids are not thoroughly educated regarding the harm smoking can do. They hear about ‘lung cancer’ – yet for many, this doesn’t seem to be very real. They take the ‘it won’t happen to me’ attitude. Nevertheless, by revealing some of the bad side effects that are likely to happen to all, then perhaps teenage girls will be able to see just how much harm they are causing themselves.
Firstly, let’s deal with the harsh reality of it all by presenting a key statistic. A teenager who begins smoking at the age of 15 is going to be three times more likely to pass away as a result of cancer when compared to someone who began the habit during their mid-20s.
A lot of people find this startling because they do not actually realize that the age you start smoking can have such a monumental impact. It may be the ‘cool’ thing to do. But are you really going to feel that way when you discover that you have only increased your chance of getting cancer quite substantially? The excess damage you will cause your body is staggering. Book an appointment with an online GP to see the damage done.
In addition to this, let’s not ignore the fact that teenage years are when you start to think about the opposite sex. The majority of people find smoking extremely unattractive, especially on a woman. In fact, this is something a whole host of male celebrities have spoken about, including everybody’s favorite footballer; Cristiano Ronaldo.
Aside from the points that have already been mentioned, not only will you look better because you literally do not have a cigarette hanging out of your mouth, but your skin will look much nicer too. If you smoke then you can easily end up with a saggy and wrinkly face when you are merely in your mid-20s. The reason for this is because the chemicals found within cigarettes actually restrict the blood flow to your skin – which in turn of course has a detrimental impact on your appearance.
Last but not least, do you really want to blow all of your weekly pocket money on smoking? It is an expensive habit. Just think of the clothes you could buy yourself instead for example. You are wasting all of the money your parents have gifted you when you could easily be saving for something special or enjoying yourself legally and safely.
If you have a teenage daughter or you are a young girl reading this, please don’t underestimate how important it is to take note of all the points mentioned. Smoking is a deadly habit and everyone needs to be aware of the severe consequences that arise as a result.
