Being more productive at work can do wonders for your work/life balance. The better your focus is, the more you can get done, which means you will have less to worry about in your leisure time. Plus, you can avoid working long hours, which can often lead to burnout and poor health.
Therefore, if you are looking to improve your work/life balance and become a more productive person at work, here’s how.
Get more sleep
Sleep is a crucial part of our well-being and not enough of us dedicate time to it. The more sleep you get, the more focused you can be at work, which will help you be more productive.
To get better sleep, it will help to:
- Improve your bed set up. You might find that your soft mattress and/or hard pillows are causing you to have a poor night’s sleep. If so, then you could benefit from investing in new pillows or a mattress topper. If you are someone that dislikes soft mattresses, then it is important to know that latex toppers are firmer than most other materials as they are more durable. Hence, if you are looking to add firmness to your mattress, then make sure to opt for a latex one.
- Create a routine. Having a bedtime routine will help your mind and body prepare for sleep. Whether this means doing pilates before showering and getting into bed or reading a book, having a routine will help you relax. Plus, sticking to a sleep schedule will ensure that you get enough hours.
Silence your notifications
Our phones and devices are some of the biggest distractions, which are certainly not useful when you are trying to be productive at work. Hence, it is a good idea to turn off your phone or silence those notifications.
Any distraction will cause you to lose focus and get out of the swing of productivity. Therefore, avoid them all so that you can stay engaged and get more work done.
Take breaks
Although it might seem counterproductive to take breaks when you are trying to be more productive, they help as they can reset the mind.
If you sit for hours working on a complex task, then you will fry your brain and start to lose focus. Small and regular breaks will help you refresh your mind and be more productive throughout the day.
Write daily lists
Writing daily to-do lists is highly effective for increasing workplace productivity. Having a list of what you need to do in front of you will help you stay on track and avoid losing focus.
It can help to set dedicated time slots for each task so that you do not run over and result in working longer hours to finish what you need to do. After you complete each task, ensure to tick it off. This will offer satisfaction and ensure that you stay on track and in line with what needs to be done next.
