Reviews

“Across The Spider-verse exceeded my expectations. The return of our favorite characters plus new ones, the soundtrack, the animation, and the intensity of the plot — it all came together to create one outstanding movie. The story builds gradually, beginning by reintroducing us to Gwen and Miles in their separate universes. Our attention was grabbed quickly after the introduction by a new villain who has serious potential, but has quite the sense of humor— however, he refuses to be underestimated. For the first half of Spiderman: Across the Spider-verse, I was trying to figure out where the plot was going to take us— it felt simple at first. That was until story was shaken up and the plot began taking new and intense twists and turns. We even meet some exciting new characters along the way! I can’t speak enough about how well-written and developed the characters are. Their wit is natural, the banter entertaining, and their personalities easy to fall in love with. I especially enjoy all of the diversity that we see in their backgrounds, nationalities, and ethnicities— beautiful representation! Hang on tight, because it is quite the ride as the plot becomes an intense one to keep up with. It’s all worth it, because the end of the movie was not anything that we were expecting.” ~Kelly C.

The movie is rated PG, but it must be noted for all families, that there is the “H” word twice toward the end of the film as well as the “A” word.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is an amazing film that somehow manages to exceed the high expectations set by the first one. The directors take everything that worked in the first movie and dialed it up. The art is incredible, the way that each Spider-Man has their own artistic direction but yet when they’re all on screen it all blends beautifully and looks so smooth. The music is fantastic! Each song enhances and compliments what’s going on perfectly. There is a lot going on in the plot and at times some things can get lost, but it manages to balance and hold itself together pretty well considering everything the film is trying to balance. As we’ve come to expect, all the characters are hilarious, and it makes for a funny movie that gets serious in the important parts. The main characters are all complex and interesting, especially the dynamic between Miles and the main villain. Overall, it is a great film that has me excited and longing for the next film to come out.” ~Michael R.
