“Whether you want to earn some extra money through a part-time seasonal position to help with holiday expenses, or whether you are looking for a permanent position, we are here to help,” said Director of Business and Career Services Jason Charnas. “While traditionally this can be a challenging time of year to look for permanent positions, with some employers quietening down their hiring needs until January, obtaining a seasonal position can help you develop new skills and potentially gain full time employment.”

Charnas has a few tips to offer job seekers to help them land employment right now:

  • Make sure your resume is up to date and professional; free resume help is available from career advisors at Gesher or join one of the monthly Resume Workshops, the next one being on Dec.11 from 10-11.30 a.m.
  • Create a job search schedule, spending time each day on your job search and following up on positions where you have applied
  • Connect with your networks; if your LinkedIn account needs work consider joining one of the monthly Gesher LinkedIn webinars or reach out to the nonprofit for one-on-one help; the next LinkedIn webinar is on Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to noon
  • Consider seasonal and part-time positions at retail stores, restaurants, warehouses, delivery services and other employers seeking seasonal help
