Volunteers of America Michigan Thrift Stores Celebrate National Thrift Shop Day on August 17

What:                  

Celebrations and sales will take place at all six Volunteers of America Michigan Thrift Store locations for National Thrift Shop Day, celebrated annually on August 17. The Volunteers of America Michigan Thrift Store in Westland (34800 Warren Road, Westland, MI 48185) will extend hours and be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024. There will be raffles for four $50 gift cards to shop at the store, all items will be 25% off, and double loyalty points will be credited on all purchases in addition to the weekly 50% and 75% color tag sales.

To add to the festivities, all stores will give away free popcorn, candy and drinks starting at 9 a.m. and will be available to shoppers while supplies last. Customers can expect a fun shopping atmosphere and experience and the thrill of finding special items as they browse hundreds of unique items in the store. Clothing and household donations are also welcome on National Thrift Shop Day and can be brought to the store from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on National Thrift Shop Day.

Proceeds from all Volunteers of America Michigan Thrift Stores support the nonprofit’s continuum of services for veterans, as well as affordable housing for seniors, families, and individuals with disabilities. For more information on Volunteers of America Michigan Thrift Stores including all store addresses, go to www.voami.org/thrift-shop. Why: 

Volunteers of America Michigan Thrift Stores not only have more than 3,000 new items on sale each day at a fraction of their original price to provide affordable shopping for the community, but 100% of the funds from the purchases at the stores directly support the nonprofit’s critical social services in our communities, which encompass a variety of support services for veterans, seniors, families and individuals with disabilities. National Thrift Shop Day is an opportunity for Volunteers of America Michigan to celebrate their customers with sales and more to bring the community together with the goal of raising money to support programs and services for individuals in our community in need.
