Metro Detroit Residents Can Brighten the Holidays for Local Families in Need Through Volunteers of America Michigan’s Annual Adopt A Family Program
There are many families in metro Detroit struggling to make ends meet and Volunteers of America Michigan is coordinating an effort to help those in need this holiday season. The nonprofit, which serves veterans, seniors and families in Michigan, opened up the opportunity to more than 2,000 Michigan families in need to be adopted for Christmas. Through its annual Adopt a Family Program, the nonprofit is asking the metro Detroit community to help support their neighbors in need by purchasing and delivering holiday gifts directly to families to help ease their stress and bring joy during this holiday season.
Many families in Metro Detroit,
struggle to meet basic needs every day and especially during the holidays, and this program is a powerful way to get children and families engaged in community outreach and to show those in need that their community cares. The families who will be adopted have applied through Volunteers of America Michigan to be a part of this program. As part of the sign-up process, community members can read family stories and see gift wish lists in this easy-to-adopt online program through December 11, of which the steps are outlined below.
