Where can you go where you can take the whole family on a day out? That is the question that so many people ask when it comes to vacation time. The problem here is that you might think that Grandad and your tweens have a very different idea of fun. And while that may be mainly true, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that there are some locations that everyone in your group will love, whether they’re 9 or 90. Read on to find out what they are.

Laser tag

I call laser tag the great leveller. The kids naturally think they will be the best because of all their computer games, but it’s much harder to be a crack shot in real life. Also, kids tend to go in all guns blazing while adults have the benefit of experience which brings strategy, making it super fun for kids of all ages.

Some laser tag places are located amid lots of other attractions as well from fairground rides,  and bumper cars. This can make it a great choice as you can do multiple activities in a single day when visiting.

Museum visit

If you think museums are a snore fest, then you could not be more wrong. Instead, there are so many fascinating and fun museums that every member of the family can enjoy.

Science museums in particular tend to be so much fun because they include interactive exhibits that provide wonder as well as education. Be sure to check your local museum events to see what is near you.

Theme park

Another great suggestion for a family day out is to take the family to a theme park. At many theme parks, you’ll find fast and thrilling rides, but not every park is like that. For example, Legoland is much better for younger kids and older adults because the rides, while still very fun, can be a bit gentler.

Day at the beach

Is there anything more fun than a beautiful sunny day at the beach? I’d say no. Especially if you want something that the whole family can do together. For the kids, paddle in the sea and make sandcastles. While parents are often happy to sit in the sun and read. Grandparents can lie back and relax or they can take some time to play catch with the kids, making it truly a great choice for all.

For those looking to extend the day beyond the shore, a relaxing outing on the lake is a great option. Calm waters make lake boating enjoyable for all ages, whether it’s a slow cruise or a fun afternoon exploring different parts of the lake. To make planning easy, opt for a boat rental and search for “Lake Travis boat rentals” to find suitable options near the lake.

Family Picnic

Last of all, if you are looking for something fun to do out of doors, then what about a family picnic? Family picnics are great because everyone can get involved with something whether it’s prepping the food, cooking it, or playing outdoor games.

Of course, you’ll need to make sure that you pack enough food for everyone that is coming. It’s also a good idea to find a park that lets you grill, as you can cook your food live. Don’t forget plenty of paper plates and dixies cups either, oh and some trash bags so you leave the space looking just like you found it.
