Fellowship of Christian Athletes Announces Matt Diener as Regional Vice President with the Great Lakes Region
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org), a ministry dedicated to equipping coaches and athletes to use the dynamic platform of sports to reach their peers with the transforming power of Jesus Christ, is pleased to welcome Matt Diener as the ministry’s Regional Vice President with the Great Lakes Region.
“Seeing how God brought Matt through the ministry of FCA as an athlete, Huddle leader and now a regional vice president is a testament to the positive impact of being a part of a Christ-centered community at a young age,” said FCA Chief Field Officer, Rick Isaiah. “Matt’s dedication to sports and his faith have shown us that he has been called to carry on the mission of FCA to new heights.”
Diener has spent the past five years serving as the State Director in Michigan after joining FCA staff in 2017 and serving in Northern Virginia for three years. Before FCA, Matt ran a sports performance training business in Virginia and has always enjoyed being around coaches and athletes while using sports as a platform to share the Gospel.
Growing up in a Christian home,
Diener’s parents provided a positive model for faith and ministry since he was young. Diener’s faith was strengthened in high school from his involvement with youth group activities as well as coaches who spent time building his character as a man of God. He discovered FCA in college through a campus Huddle, and has since served as a Huddle leader, character coach and board member. He desires to equip coaches, athletes and volunteers and staff so that they can impact lives for Christ wherever they go.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve in this new capacity with the continued goal of advancing the mission and vision of FCA,” said Diener. “The one word my wife and I think of with FCA is ‘FAMILY,’ and it’s truly a blessing to serve alongside so many incredible teammates, unified in reaching coaches and athletes with the transformational message of the Gospel. We can’t wait to see what God has in store next for this ministry journey He has allowed us to be a part of.”
Diener attended Mount Union College,
graduating in 2007 with a degree in Sport Management. He played on two Football Division III National Championship teams in 2005 and 2006 as a defensive back. Diener still loves to play many sports and enjoys staying active through sports and fitness. He and his wife, Allison, live in Rockford, Michigan, along with their daughter, Madelyn. As a family, they enjoy playing at the park and like to spend as much time as possible outdoors with their dog, exploring hiking trails nearby.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ vision is to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. Its mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. FCA’s guiding values are integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence.
Since 1954, FCA has used the powerful medium of sports and building relationships to reach the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is cultivating Christian principles by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same so that lives are changed for current and future generations.
