Too many people are willing to give their employer the benefit of the doubt, hoping that they’re going to do the right thing if they have been injured at work. It’s true that some will, and they will do everything they can to support you however you need. Unfortunately, there are also some companies out there that would rather try to sweep it under the rug, without really providing you any kind of support.
Even if you like the company you work for, that’s not okay. You need to ensure that you are taking this seriously and following the correct legal steps to get the help you need if they won’t help you.
Speak To A Legal Professional
Before you do anything else, we recommend that you speak to a legal professional. If you look at the Work Injury Advisor section of certain law firms, you will find professionals who specialize in this area and are able to offer you some advice and clarity. You need to explain to them exactly what has happened, what you have done so far, and what kind of evidence you have.
Speaking to a legal professional can feel daunting, and some people even find that they feel as though they’re betraying the company, but you’re not. You got injured, they won’t help you, so they did this to themselves.
Try Talking To The Company
If you’ve not done so already, you can try talking to the company. Perhaps you just want to speak to a lawyer about advice on how to approach this, and that’s a good idea. Speaking to the company is an important part of the process because you need to see what they are willing to do to help you.
Ask them what they are willing to offer you in terms of support, ask them what they are going to do to help you going forward. These are both important elements, and they need to be carefully considered.
Ensure You Do Everything By The Book
The final thing that we’re going to mention is that you need to do everything by the book. You need to keep an eye on everything that is going on, documenting it all, ensuring that there are other people around for conversations that you have, and so on. The reason that this is so important is that all of this can be used as evidence if it comes to this.
Doing everything by the book means that your chances of success become higher. There are certain things that you can’t do when gathering information, so it’s critical that you know what they are and what not to do.
We hope that you have found this article helpful and now see some of the different things that you should do if you’ve been injured at work. Don’t just sweep it under the rug, as you deserve better than this. Get the help that you need, and get the compensation and support that you need.
