Initiative underscores the vital role restorative sleep plays in health, emotional well-being, and building stronger communities.

Detroit, MI – Gardner White is turning awareness into action this National Sleep Week (March 8–14) by donating mattresses and mattress protectors to Alternatives For Girls, a Detroit-based nonprofit that provides safe, supportive housing and critical resources for young women facing housing instability and other life challenges.

National Sleep Week,

serves as an annual reminder of the essential role sleep plays in overall health and well-being. Through this donation, Gardner White is reinforcing its commitment to the community and highlighting the belief that everyone deserves a good night’s sleep.

“National Sleep Week is an important reminder that something as simple as a good night’s sleep can have a powerful impact on someone’s life,” said Rachel Stewart, CEO of Gardner White. “We’re proud to partner with Alternatives For Girls to help create a more comfortable and supportive environment for their community.”

Research consistently shows that quality sleep is a cornerstone of physical health,

emotional resilience, and daily performance. According to the National Sleep Foundation (2025), adults who regularly get the recommended 7–9 hours of sleep each night are more likely to experience greater happiness, improved productivity at work and home, enjoy stronger social relationships, and increased success in achieving personal goals.

“Gardner White’s generous partnership during National Sleep Week directly strengthens the health and well-being of the young women and families we serve,” said Tonya C. Adair, President & CEO, Alternatives For Girls. “Quality sleep is essential for physical health, emotional stability, and overall well-being. By providing new mattresses, Gardner White is helping ensure that those in our programs have the safe, restorative rest they need. We are grateful for their commitment to supporting our community’s health and creating access to this basic, vital resource.”
