Cosplay night, special community events invite audiences to embrace the strange and unusual.
KALAMAZOO, MI—Miller Auditorium is bringing an extra dose of the strange and unusual to BEETLEJUICE The Musical (May 8–10) with two special themed experiences: a Cosplay Night and a “Ghosts of Kalamazoo” presentation, inviting audiences to fully immerse themselves in the fandom, fun, and local flavor surrounding the hit Broadway production.
Dressed to Kill—Cosplay Night
On Friday, May 8, audiences are invited to come “Dressed to Kill” for Cosplay Night. Guests are encouraged to suit up and embrace the chaos of BEETLEJUICE for opening night by arriving in costume and celebrating the show’s signature style.
Lobby activities will begin prior to the 7:30 p.m. performance, offering fans the chance to showcase their looks, connect with fellow theatergoers, and take part in a lively, themed pre-show atmosphere. In addition, local fandom- and pop culture-specialty businesses have been invited to host tables in Miller’s lobby, creating an interactive community experience for patrons before the show. Among these businesses are The Old Skool Bar and the Nightmare Realm Haunted Attractions.
Ghosts (with the Most) of Kalamazoo
Continuing the themed weekend, Miller Auditorium has partnered with Kalamazoo’s favorite ghostly tour-guides, JCI Kalamazoo, for a special pre-show event on Saturday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m., ahead of the 2 p.m. Matinee.
Hosted by JCI President Brenna LaForge, Ghosts (with the Most) of Kalamazoo will feature highlights from local ghost tours including historic photos, video, and EVP recordings that bring Kalamazoo’s past to life. The presentation is free to attend, though advance registration on Miller Auditorium’s website is recommended.
“Kalamazoo has its fair share of ‘ghosts with the most,’ and at JCI Kalamazoo, we’ve made it our mission to bring those stories to life,” said Brenna LaForge, President of JCI Kalamazoo. “As someone who truly appreciates the strange and unusual, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect partnership than this one with Miller Auditorium and BEETLEJUICE The Musical—it’s where local history meets a little bit of delightful weirdness.”
JCI Kalamazoo is a local chapter of Junior Chamber International, a global leadership organization for young professionals. Through community programs, events, and initiatives like Ghost Tours, JCI Kalamazoo engages residents in local history while fostering leadership development, civic involvement, and community connection.
BEETLEJUICE The Musical is based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film, BEETLEJUICE tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes.
