If your kids have just headed back to school, a day trip could help ease them back into learning mode.

New analysis from Achieve Personal Loans has revealed some of America’s best-value attractions for families looking for an educational refresh before the new school year, based on Tripadvisor reviews describing popular attractions as offering “value for money” or being “reasonably priced”.

Alcatraz Island Tour takes the top spot, with 483 Tripadvisor reviews praising its value. Beyond exploring the infamous prison cells, visitors can delve into the island’s history through its exhibits and immersive audio tours, making it an easy way to sneak a history lesson into the final days of summer.

For budding scientists,

Kennedy Space Center follows with 306 value-related reviews. Families can see real NASA spacecraft, explore the history of space exploration and try astronaut training simulators, turning subjects kids might encounter in school into something they can experience firsthand.

There are plenty of options for history lovers, too. The Empire State Building offers exhibits exploring the history, architecture and engineering behind the iconic skyscraper, while Biltmore Estate provides a glimpse into America’s Gilded Age.

And for an arts and culture refresher, families can swap screens for masterpieces at The Art Institute of Chicago and The Getty Center. At the same time, music-loving kids can step inside the former home of Elvis Presley at Graceland.
