The Big Kid SecureDrive™ Giveaway

When it comes to kids and technology it’s inevitable, right?  Children are thriving with advancing technology as the years go by.  This can be an exciting thing, but it can also turn into a nightmare for many kids and their families.  From cyber-bullies to cyber-stalkers, it’s to the point where our kids aren’t even safe in an online setting.

I was just recently introduced to a product that I think you as a parent of a Internet savvy child will also appreciate.  It’s called the Big Kid SecureDrive™.  “It is a safe and fun Internet environment contained in a bootable USB flash drive.  With an award-winning, Children’s Internet Protection Act-compliant web content filter and parental monitoring tools, the Big Kid SecureDrive protects children from predators, scammers, and other dangers online.  Preloaded educational games, web browswers, office software, and support for thousands of Windows applications keep kids entertained.” Visit www.thinkbigcomputing.com for more information.

As a mom of girls old enough to use the Internet, the Big Kid SecureDrive is definitely a God send.  I am always leery of letting my girls play even just educational games.  Because of that, most of our computer learning is done at the library for those safety reasons.  But now with this bootable USB flash drive, I now feel that my children are safe and they can play their educational games in the comfort of their own home.  Sure, we have parental blocks and firewalls already installed on our computers, but having extra help puts all stresses at ease.

You simply just insert the USB flash drive into your PC.  A box will pop up with a list:
  • Big Kid Docs
  • Adult text document
  • Big Kid SecureDrive
  • Run Big Kid Application
After you have gone through the documents, just click on “Run Big Kid Application” a black box will open up and will ask your permission to gather info, etc.  Super easy.  It takes about 2 minutes to set up.
Because the filter runs off of a flash drive, nothing is ever installed onto your computer.  This was my main concern in the beginning.
Here are a few other bits of info regarding the Big Kid SecureDrive:
  • Big  Kid Secure Drive is set to update content filters automatically, not updating required.
  • It can be used on an unlimited amount of computers.
  • The secure drive includes over 80 games
  • Educational applications include age appropriate math, spelling, and science programs.
  • It includes a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software. The files produced by the Big Kid SecureDrive™ office suite are compatible with Microsoft Office.
  • There are no additional fees. The one time purchase price is the only cost to you.
Right now you can buy the SecureDrive for $16.95, 50% off the regular retail cost, at thinkbigcomputing.com.

And the full list of features is at http://thinkbigcomputing.com/features/
