#TheHundredFootJourney Movie {Review}-Open in Theatres Today!
I was given the opportunity to prescreen The Hundred-Foot Journey in exchange for this review. All opinions expressed here are honest and my own.
How many of you have seen the previews for the movie The Hundred-Foot Journey starring Helen Mirren? It is based on the novel by Richard C. Morais. The film was produced by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg.
I must say that prior to seeing The Hundred-Foot Journey, I hadn’t heard too much about it. I never heard of the book. Or maybe I have and just kind of forgot about it.
Prior to my prescreening, I watched a mini trailer to get an idea of what the movie is about. Let’s just say watching the trailer didn’t do too much for me. Was this going to be a slow-moving and boring film?
Boy, was I wrong, so wrong. I mean it’s produced by Steven Spielberg! With that said, The Hundred-Foot Journey is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it for all families. It’s overall a clean film. The acting was beautiful along with some new faces that were magnificent! This would be a good movie for 12 and up or depending on your child’s ability to follow a story. It’s inspirational and teaches you to chase your dream no matter what circumstance you are in.
It also contains humor, drama, and a little bit of action. It has something for everyone.
The film is rated PG due to thematic elements, some violence, but let me say it’s due to a couple fires and harsh bullying. Nothing gory or inappropriate. I don’t remember much harsh language. Usually that is something that stands out to me, so obviously there wasn’t too much to really notice. There is also a kissing scene. It’s an up close shot, so kids can shut their eyes on that haha. For anything “sensual” along with the kissing, there is a scene that briefly shows the couple walk out of a back room straightening their clothes. Obviously we have an idea what went on, but the film never showed it. That would really be my only red flag for the film, especially if you are very modest and conservative. I screened the movie alone as I wanted to make sure there wouldn’t be anything inappropriate that would pop up in front of my tween daughter’s eyes. I think it’s safe to say now that it would have been okay for her to see. I would just have had to explain a few things.
