Moonlight Yoga Along the Detroit Riverfront July Through August

What:  Individuals and families are invited to enjoy free yoga classes along the Detroit Riverfront courtesy of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy. The event is an extension of the fourth-annual Live the Riverfront program, offering free and low-cost fitness opportunities throughout summer.

In a unique twist on traditional yoga, Moonlight Yoga participants wear glow jewelry and incorporate 16-inch glow batons into various poses. Space is limited to 150 attendees per session, so advance registration at detroitriverfront.org is required. The sessions are free, but participants are asked to consider making a five-dollar donation to the Conservancy to cover the accessories cost.

  • Wednesday, July 19 at 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 9 at 8 p.m
  • Wednesday, August 23 at 8 p.m.

Why: Whether in the car, at a desk or on the couch, the majority of adults spend more time sitting than sleeping, putting them at risk for heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other health issues. Live the Riverfront is a multi-year partnership between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy to help Michigan residents and employees stay active.
