Urgent Care of Milford Opens New Local Clinic

MILFORD (Jan. 9, 2018) – Residents of Milford and its local communities now have a new option when looking for quality health care. The brand new Urgent Care of Milford (UCOM) facility is now open in Prospect Hill Shopping Plaza.

The center is located at 600 Highland Ave. in the Prospect Hill Shopping Center near Kroger and opened with new patients being seen Jan. 2, 2018.

“As a market with limited health care options, and being from local communities ourselves, we thought the Milford community would appreciate the ability to access health care conveniently close to home,” said Matthew Abraham, Esq., a spokesman for UCOM, as to why the city was chosen as their new site.

The principal co-owner and physician, Dr. Mark Wilkerson, MD DO shared:  “We hope Milford patients will value the convenience of the center and the ability to connect directly to a physician with the help and support of our onsite care providers. We’re committed to increasing access to high-quality, affordable health care and our new Milford UCOM center makes it easier than ever for local patients to get the quality care they need.”

Wilkerson said that while life-threatening conditions such as chest pains will still require a trip to the emergency room, UCOM will be able to treat most everyday medical needs, illnesses and injuries, including sports and work physicals, ailments such as colds, flu, infections, breaks, sprains, cuts, X-rays and IVs. The center will also provide basic wellness and prevention services such as immunizations and medical evaluations.

The center expects to hire between five to eight employees initially, including customer service representatives, X-ray technologists, registered nurses and physicians and will expand with the needs of the community it serves.

“As we treat more patients, we will continue adding to our team so we can keep our focus on exceeding the expectations of each and every patient,” Wilkerson said.

He added that the center will also focus on quality care that is affordable. As such, it will accept most major insurances to help patients avoid out-of-network costs and will also offer affordable pricing to those without insurance.  Co-owner, Dr. Nusrat Javaid, a pediatric ER specialist, was pleased with the efficiency of the new facility:  “We are quite excited to bring quality medical services to this community and to make them available to patients immediately on an urgent care basis.”
